CELEBRATE RECOVERY
The purpose of Celebrate Recovery Ministry is to fellowship and to celebrate God's healing power in our lives through the 8 Recovery Principles. This experience allows us to be changed. By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our destructive behaviours. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly a stronger relationship with God and others. As we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power - Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power.

What is a hurt, a hang-up or a habit?
HURT is the feeling of being hurt as an emotional reaction to another person's behaviour or to a disturbing situation.
HABIT is an addiction to someone or something.
HANG-UP is a negative mental attitude that is used to cope with people or adversity, such as anger, depression, fear or unforgiveness.

Please consider Friday nights at Celebrate Recovery!

CR - Every Friday night 6PM, starting with for supper!

History of Celebrate Recovery
Celebrate Recovery started in 1991 at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. At that time, the church was meeting at a high school gymnasium. John Baker wrote Pastor Rick Warren the "now famous concise 13-page, single-spaced" letter outlining the vision God had given him for Celebrate Recovery. After reading John's letter, Pastor Rick said, "Great John, go do it!"

The first night 45 people attended, and Celebrate Recovery was born. Beginning with only four Open Share Groups-Men's and Women's Chemical Dependency, and Men's and Women's Co-dependency - the ministry has grown to over fourteen groups today. Over 8,500 people have gone through the program at Saddleback Church, and many of them are now serving in Celebrate Recovery and the church. Celebrate Recovery has become the number one outreach ministry at Saddleback Church, with over 70 percent of its members now coming from outside the church. The first ten years were the birth stage of Celebrate Recovery, and now God is calling us to take it to the world. There are now thousands of Celebrate Recovery ministries around the world and it is growing. We are part of a movement that is bringing the hurting and broken to the healing power of Jesus Christ.

And now Celebrate Recovery is a part of Park Meadows Baptist Church!

R Realize I’m not God. I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and my life is unmanageable.
“Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor.” Matthew 5:3

E Earnestly believe that God exist, that I matter to Him and that He has the power to help me recover.
“Happy are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4

C Consciously choose to commit all my life to and will to Christ’s care and control.
“Happy are the meek.” Matthew 5:5

O Openly examine and confess my faults to God, and myself and to someone I trust.
“Happy are the pure in heart.” Matthew 5:8

V Voluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask him to remove any character defects.
“Happy are those whose greatest desire to do what God requires.” Matthew 5:6

E Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I’ve done to others, except when to do so would harm them or others.
“Happy are the merciful.” Matthew 5:7
“Happy are the peace makers.” Matthew 5:9

R Reserve a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible reading and prayer in order to know God and his will for my life, and to gain the power to follow his will.

Y Yield myself to God to be used to bring this good news to others, both by my example and by my words.
“Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires.” Matthew 5:10
